ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Skateboarding culture rolled into the Art Museum of Rochester Saturday night for a showcase of its memorabilia. Friends of Roc City Skatepark presented the exhibit "Hoarders of Cool," with items from skate culture of the past 30 years.
There was an array of old skateboards, t-shirts, stickers and original artwork. The event was held to spread awareness about a potential park in the city.
A board member of Roc City Park says the journey to get a park has had its ups and downs. The city has earmarked $100,000 for a park to be built in 2017. Of the 125 biggest cities in the U.S., Rochester is the only one without a free-use skatepark.
