ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Big things are coming to the Blue Cross Arena.
Major improvements are slated after an agreement between the State Assembly, Senate and Governor's Office.
Assemblymen Joe Morelle and Harry Bronson announced on Thursday, the sports and concert arena will receive $10 million in capital grants.
The project plans to make the arena a year-round attraction and bring more shows, concerts and special events.
Morelle says the community and those using the site will benefit from the investment.
"This is the first phase of a multi-phase project designed to modernize the facility," Morelle said. "Make certain that the facility is up to the needs of fans and performers and participants in sports. So we just want to make sure that teams like the Amerks have the kind of facilities that will allow them to be successful, because they're an important part of our communities"
The last renovations took place over 15 years ago.
The Assembly, Senate and Governor's office will each provide a third of the funding.
