ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Ted Cruz will make a campaign stop in Rochester Friday.

Cruz's campaign confirms the Texas Senator will hold a rally at the Samuel J. Stabins Athletic Center on the campus of Monroe Community College Friday evening starting at 7:30. Registration to attend is no longer available on the Cruz campaign website.

Cruz is asking New Yorkers to join the movement of courageous conservatives. The Cruz rally is scheduled at the same venue Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton chose for her campaign stop last week.

MCC has welcomed Clinton, Sanders and soon, Cruz.

"It has definitely sparked debate around here. In all my classes there has been a lot talk of presidential candidates. Who is going to vote for who, what they're looking for in a president and I think it is amazing," said Michael Buckley, MCC student.

Cruz is expected to talk about his ideas on passing a flat tax rate, defending second amendment rights to keep and bear arms, how to better secure the country's borders, protect religious freedoms and how to restore a culture of life, marriage and family.

"I am definitely going to plan on voting. I look for a president who is going to meet our demands; meet the country's demand and stay on their word and do what they say they are going to do," said Wanda Ridgeway, MCC student.

MCC student Leah Cote is still undecided about who or even if she will vote.

"I do not know that it has changed a whole lot for me with the fact that they have come here. I know it has changed how I am looking at things," said Cote.

Cruz held a town hall meeting in Buffalo Thursday afternoon. There, he challenged Governor Cuomo's ban on hydrofracking.

"Knucklehead Democratic politicians here think New Yorkers don't want jobs. You've got the Marcellus Shale here. You could have thousands and thousands of high paying jobs if the politicians would just let you develop the resources that are here," said Cruz.

Cruz isn't backing down, taking swipes when he can at GOP front-runner Donald Trump. Cruz says he's confident he can win delegates in New York.

The rally starts at 7:30 p.m., doors open at 6:30.

Ted Cruz is the fifth candidate in eight days to visit Rochester as the candidates prepare for Tuesday's primary.

Vermont Senator and Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders spoke for more than an hour at the Bill Gray's Iceplex at Monroe Community College on Tuesday.

Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton campaigned at MCC on Friday.

Donald Trump made his campaign stop in Chili on Sunday and Republican candidate John Kasich was also in Rochester over the weekend.
