Our discussion this weekend on “In Focus” centers on the results of and the issues voters considered in this year’s election cycle.
JoDee Kenney speaks with Joseph Carni, chair of the Onondaga Republican Committee, who weighed in on his party's successes this year, particularly in the race for the White House.
Carni said with many voters pointing to economic issues and immigration as driving them at the ballot box. Democrats may have missed the mark with their messaging. Particularly, Carni said Democrats spent too much time speaking to New Yorkers about the need to protect abortion rights despite the fact it remains legal in the state.
Carni said the Republican party will look to build on its momentum in the coming local election cycle, which includes an open mayoral race in Syracuse due to term limits for the incumbent, Democrat Ben Walsh.
