We are talking this weekend on In Focus about the issues voters are weighing before they head to the polls this election cycle.

JoDee Kenney is joined by Debora Brown-Johnson, Albany NAACP president, who shared her insight as the country sees, for the first time, a Black woman nominated for president of the United States. Brown-Johnson said the organization continues to hold voter registration and education drives on a neighborhood level, going door-to-door to meet people where they live. With races often decided by the slimmest of margins, Brown-Johnson said every vote matters. The NAACP is also working, Brown-Johnson said, to encourage more Black men to become politically engaged, particularly among the younger generation. Ultimately, she said, there is value and power in making your voice heard at the ballot box. Brown-Johnson said, for members of the community with transportation issues, the NAACP is assisting them with getting to the polls. She also encouraged everyone to engage in more constructive political debate and recognize how our differences do not necessarily divide us.
