This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, In Focus opens a conversation on achieving equitable outcomes for all women diagnosed.

JoDee Kenney sat down with Brenda Robinson, CEO and founder of the Black Nurses Coalition, who said there are disparities in breast cancer mortality rates for women of color. Robinson said in addition to working towards equitable health care options for all women, education and outreach is critical to closing this gap. This includes connecting with women door-to-door, said Robinson, encouraging women to get screened for cancer.

Robinson also spoke about the Black Nurses Coalition’s efforts to build the ranks of health care providers of color.
