Greece Central School District officials have laid out the plans for a multi-million dollar capital improvement project proposal.
All told, $107 million would go into the wide-ranging plan, most of which would be spent on building improvements.
Additionally, $36 million is slated for a new shared facility on Latta Road for transportation and support services.
It's an "out-of-sight, out-of-mind" investment that parents say is needed.
"We run like a small city," said Greece resident Keena Smith. "Our transportation and how it services our students on a daily basis. We need better facilities to make sure that the transportation is maintained, that the busses are running and they're not going to break down. Just from the size of the parking spaces, never would I think about buses and small spaces and the mirrors getting knocked and having to replace and them those before the buses can go out."
Nearly $25 million would go into new turf and lights and other changes for the district's athletic fields.
The district claims there'd be no additional tax levy on residents for this.
A public input session on the proposal was held Tuesday night, but an additional meeting will be held next Tuesday, October 2, at 6:30 p.m. in room E46 at the Odyssey Academy on Maiden Lane.
