BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- The Monroe County Sheriff's Department in conjunction with the Brockport Police Department announced an arrest Tuesday in connection to a homicide last week in Brockport.

Police say 33-year-old Megan Dix of Lyndonville was found dead Friday night with a single gunshot wound to the head.

They say Dix worked at Lowe's in the village and parked her car nearby for her lunch break around 1 p.m. She would never return to work.

The Brockport Police Chief says 31-year-old Holly Marie Colino, of Arizona, was arrested at Sticky Lips in Henrietta after she allegedly threatened an employee with a gun in the restaurant’s parking lot Monday night.

She reportedly had two illegal guns with her at the time of her arrest.

Officials say Colino lived in Brockport between 2011 and 2014, and officers had five separate contacts with her in that time. She moved away, and reportedly came back three days before the murder.

Dix's family attended the arraignment on Tuesday, in hopes of seeing the accused killer brought to justice.

"I definitely hope she gets the help she needs, and does a long time in jail. I hope there is no technicality that she gets out on, because that wouldn't serve justice. For her to take Megan, she gave so much...for her to take that away, it doesn't even make sense," said Don Duncanson, Dix's brother.

Colino been charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

Dix leaves behind her husband and an 8-year-old son.

Calling hours are scheduled for Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Oak Orchard Assembly of God Church in Medina with a funeral service to follow.

Friends of Dix have also set up a GoFundMe page. Anyone wishing to donate can do so at this website.

As for the incident at Sticky Lips, investigators say charges will be lodged at a later time.

Sheriff O'Flynn says his deputies responded to the Jefferson Road restaurant shortly after 5 p.m. Monday on a 911 call.

The owner of Sticky Lips says that surveillance footage shows a woman pacing in the parking lot.

That's when deputies say there was some kind of encounter between the woman and the employee.

Investigators say Colino was then found in the hallway of a nearby Holiday Inn.

Police say, during the arrest she slipped the handcuffs and managed to get away, but was found about 100 yards away.

There is an internal investigation into the matter, as standard protocol.
