ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A fire overnight destroyed two boats and damaged a third boat docked at a marina on Irondequoit Bay.

It was an unfortunate end to the July 4th holiday for some boat owners who keep their vessels docked at Sutter's Marina on the Irondequoit side of the bay.

The fire happened on the south dock of the marina. Laurelton Fire Chief says when crews arrived, two boats were on fire. One of the three boats damaged by the fire sunk, and was pulled from the water.

No one was injured.

Marina owner Al Sutter, says his son Ryan was there Wednesday night, working with firefighters to try to determine the cause of the fire.

Al pondered if maybe a firework might have landed on a boat canvas, and that started the fire, but no official cause has been determined at this point.

Firefighters say New York State Department of Environmental Conservation officials were at the scene because the marina does have a fuel pump, but they say only about two gallons or so ended up in the water.
