A Greece couple already in custody accused of sexually exploiting a child now have federal charges leveled against them.

Federal prosecutors say Bonnie Hughes and John Kohlmeier Jr. took sexually explicit photos of the child and then coerced her into illegal sexual activities last month.

Kohlmeier also allegedly had sexually explicit conversations with the victim earlier this year.

The two were previously arrested by Greece Police and face state charges as well.

They're being held in custody at the county jail.

Kohlmeier and Hughes are charged with production, receipt and possession of child pornography, and coercing and enticing a minor to engage in unlawful sexual activity.

If convicted, a minimum mandatory sentence is 15 years.

The maximum if convicted is life in prison.
