ROCHESTER, N.Y. —A Rochester teen has been indicted on charges of making a terroristic threat against UPrep Charter School, just days after the Parkland school shooting in Florida.

Tony Berry, 19, pleaded not guilty.

Berry is accused of using an anonymous social media site to send a threatening text message to himself — similar to the Parkland School threat. Prosecutor Michael Bezer says he then shared that text with friends, claiming he was the victim.

"He did make it seem like he was essentially the recipient of it he did pass on the information to friends who then forwarded it to the school this was two days after the Parkland incident, so obviously they took it very seriously," Bezer said. "We weren't aware he was the author of the text, it wasn't until the further investigation of the Rochester City Police Department."

Berry was a student at UPrep at the time of the threat. He is due back in court next month. A trial date is set for this summer.
