GREECE, N.Y. — Resources from several police agencies were called in to help locate a child who was reported early Friday morning missing.

However, as it turns out, the child was actually at his own home.

Greece Police say they received the call on Sherri Ann Lane after the family wasn't able to find the 2-year-old.

Police say the confusion was caused by miscommunication at a Thanksgiving party.

Apparently, a family member took the toddler home earlier in the night and didn't tell anyone.

"We have to be quick and thorough, and we request a lot of resources just so we can expand a search rapidly to make sure that we are able to cover as much ground as quickly as possible," said Casey Voelkl, Dep. Chief Greece Police Department.

The Rochester Police Department, Monroe County Sheriff's Office, and State Police all assisted because authorities originally began searching an area surrounding a large town park.
