SHORTSVILLE, N.Y. — Four dozen people in Ontario County will lose their jobs by the end of the year when a cabbage and sauerkraut processing facility shuts down.
GLK Foods says it's consolidating its facility on Clark Street in Shortsville because of the expansion of its facility in Bear Creek, Wisconsin.
Production will shut down sometime in September, with shipping and receiving continuing through the rest of the year. GLK says a small number of employees will be offered jobs at the Bear Creek location based on the needs of the company.
Any employee not offered a job will receive a severance package.
GLK has owned the facility since 2003.
