A Schenectady County Sheriff's Deputy with a history of domestic violence allegations has been arrested again, accused of beating up his girlfriend Sunday night.
Rotterdam Police were called to the home of Vincent Stone just before midnight on Sunday. He was arrested for assault, and his girlfriend was taken to the hospital for injuries to her face.
In 2014, Stone was working for the Rotterdam Police Department when he was arrested on similar charges. In that incident, police say Stone physically fought with a woman and violently fought with officers when they arrived.
He was given a second chance by the Schenectady County Sheriff's Office. After this latest arrest, he was fired again.
Rotterdam Police say his history with the department had no bearing on the arrest.
"As officers, we respond to tough situations all the time," said Rotterdam Police Lt. Jeffrey Collins. "When we respond to any allegations of a crime, we have to deal with it, regardless of who it is."
Police say another member of the family was present and called 911.
Schenectady County Sheriff Domenic Dagostino who was responsible for Stone's hire, has been question about his unorthodox hiring in the past. Sheriff Dagostino said over the phone, that with the exception of Stone he stands by his staffing decision to his department.
Vincent Stone was arraigned Monday on 3rd degree assault charges, and will return to court October 22nd.
