1. Newburgh returns to hybrid model for City Council meetings

Due to concerns over the spread of the delta variant of the coronavirus, the Newburgh City Council will conduct its meetings and work sessions on a limited in-person and virtual hybrid basis, effective Oct. 7.

The city’s hybrid model limits access to the Council Chambers to 18 members of the public who are required to wear masks and social distance. Attendance is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

All council meetings will be live-streamed on the city’s website and Facebook pages, as well as via Zoom.

1. New COVID-19 cases in Albany County top 100 for second straight day

In Albany County, the number of new COVID-19 cases hits triple digits for a second straight day.

This has County Executive Dan McCoy concerned that the spread of the virus is not slowing down any time soon.

The county is reporting 102 new cases, bringing the county's daily average up to about 80.

The percent positivity rate is now up to 4.6%.

Hospitalizations also rose for a second consecutive day, with 36 residents now receiving treatment at area hospitals.

McCoy added that the best way for residents to help stop the spread is by getting vaccinated if they haven't already, and by wearing a mask indoors and at large outdoor gatherings.

2. Upcoming vaccination clinics in Warren County

In Warren County, active COVID-19 cases are hitting a level health officials haven't seen since February 5.

County Health officials say there are 234 active cases.

This includes 22 new cases reported in the last 24 hours.

Warren County's seven-day rolling average infection rate currently sits at 6.5%, well above the Capital Region's infection rate of 4.3%.

Officials say they're continuing to see new cases tied to local school districts, with six new cases involving individuals who had recently been on the Queensbury, Lake George, Hadley-Luzerne and North Warren school district campuses.

Vaccination clinics will be held throughout next week, with clinics scheduled for Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

For location and details about the individual clinics, contact Warren County Health Services.
