James Craddock pleaded not guilty in Erie County Court Monday morning on charges of animal cruelty.

The Erie County District Attorney’s office says Craddock, 47, got into an argument with a woman near Mineral Springs and Frank Avenue on September 23. During the confrontation, Craddock, who was employed as a seasonal parks worker for the City of Buffalo, is accused of stabbing the woman’s dog with a large knife.

The dog, Audi, was taken to an animal hospital to be treated for injuries, including a deep stab wound and blood loss.

Craddock was fired from his job.

In addition to the animal cruelty charges, he also faces charges of second-degree menacing and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

If convicted, he faces up to seven years in prison.
