A Cheektowaga man was in court Wednesday to face charges relating to a hit-and-run crash in which an 18-year-old was killed.

Paul Hintermeier, 36, was arraigned on two counts of second-degree vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of an incident resulting in death. He pleaded not guilty.

Police say Hintermeier was speeding when he ran a stop sign on Shanley Street near Richard Drive on August 11. He’s accused of hitting Damian Garra, who later died from his injuries.

The Erie County District Attorney’s office says Hintermeier’s blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit at the time.

If convicted, Hintermeier could face up to 14 years in jail.
