Western New Yorkers calling for the removal of Buffalo School Board member Carl Paladino took their fight to Albany Wednesday.

In just a few days, Education Commissioner MaryEllen Elia will hold a hearing on the removal of Paladino.

He's been under fire since he made racial comments about former president Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama in Artvoice.

The school board majority voted to remove Paladino from the board, but the decision rests with the commissioner.

Since then, protests have sparked during board meetings calling for Paladino's removal.

Those in Albany Wednesday say nothing has been done and they won't stop.

"The longer time goes on the more active we need to become it seems to put pressure to get a decision made because nothing's been happening so far," said Colleen Kristich, member of Standing Up For Racial Justice Buffalo.

Four petitions have been filed calling for Paladino's removal, with only one being heard in a hearing Monday.

Those protesting in Albany today are also calling for Commissioner Elia to move the hearing to Buffalo so residents can be heard.
