Buffalo Police are investigating a shooting on Lasalle Avenue that seriously hurt a 4-year-old girl. 

The child's grandfather says she was in the car with her mother late Thurdsay when someone began shooting at the vehicle. 

He says one bullet hit his granddaughter in the back of the head. 

The girl's mother drove the child to Sisters Hospital. She was taken to Oishei Children's Hospital where she is expected to undergo surgery. She was reported to be in serious condition.

Police say the girl was not the intended target of the shooting. 

The incident was condemned by Mayor Byron Brown. 

"For individuals that shoot indiscriminantly in communities that behavior cannot be tolerated, our police are taking this very seriously and have been working around the clock on this."
