The Niagara Falls Republican Committee wants Joel Giambra to run for state comptroller.
The former Erie County Executive is still trying to run for governor on the Reform Party line.
But sources have told Spectrum News Giambra's also considering a Republican run for comptroller.
The Niagara Falls committee says Giambra would be a strong addition to the statewide ticket and bring a much needed Western New York presence on the Republican ballot.
It would also allow Republican nominee for governor Marc Molinaro to get the Reform Party's endorsement.
