Next time friends and relatives come to visit from out of town, take them on the Buffalo Wing Trail.
Introduced Thursday by Visit Buffalo Niagara, the trail includes 12 restaurants known for their wings, with the intention that the trail will grow to encompass even more destinations in the future.
Among the inaugural class:
- The Anchor Bar on Main Street, for being the original home of the chicken wing
- Bar-Bill Tavern on Main Street in East Aurora for its painted wings
- Blackthorn Restaurant on Seneca Street for its South Buffalo wings
- Cole's Restaurant on Elmwood Avenue for its Classic wings
- Doc Sullivan's on Abbott Road for its Smitty wings
- Duff's on Sheridan Drive in Amherst for its Very Very Hot wings
- Elmo's on Millersport Highway on Getzville for its Double-Dipped wings
- Gabriel's Gate on Allen Street for its Old School wings
- Gene McCarthy's on Hamburg Street for its Bleu Cheese wings
- Glen Park Tavern on Main Street in Williamsville for its Sicillian wings
- The Lenox Grill on North Street for its Korean Barbecue wings
- Mammoser's Tavern on South Buffalo Street for its Special Sauce wings
