JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — Jordan Alexander, 19, was in Jamestown City Court Wednesday for what was supposed to be his preliminary hearing after he allegedly led Jamestown police on a high-speed chase last week. He's charged with reckless endangerment, unlawful imprisonment and menacing as officers say he threatened a female driver with a gun during the pursuit that kept her from pulling over.

Alexander's defense attorneys asked for and were granted that adjournment from Judge John LaMancuso, which he set for April 11.

"There was some other evidence that would be pertinent to be developed at the preliminary hearing that we did not have and we discussed the matter with the district attorney’s office," said James Pelletter, Chautauqua County first assistant public defender.

Prosecutors say the evidence consists of an audio recording of a potential phone call Alexander made while in the car. Alexander also has arrest warrants from Buffalo Police in connection with a recent armed robbery of a Liberty Cab driver caught on tape from a dashboard camera. The Chautauqua County and Erie County district attorney offices seldom share large cases.

"A lot of times we have minor cases that we have dual prosecutions going. In a case of this severity though, it is something that is less frequent. It doesn't present any real problems. It's just a matter of transporting them back and forth so they can meet their court appearances in their various locations," said Patrick Swanson, (D) Chautauqua County district attorney.

Alexander was sent back to Chautauqua County Jail without bail.
