BUFFALO, N.Y. -- A Buffalo man is charged with intentionally starting a fire in his own apartment building Sunday in the city's Allentown neighborhood.

Brandon Adler, 29, a resident of the Franklin St. building, is charged with 2nd degree arson, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and criminal possession of marijuana. He's scheduled to appear in court August 4 for a felony hearing.

The Sunday morning fire displaced 10 people who lived there. No one was injured.

One of the building's residents, Barry Rebholz, escaped the fire along with his girlfriend. He provided video to Spectrum News he says was posted on Adler's Snapchat account Sunday morning. It shows a burning couch in an apartment that Rebholz says was that of Adler's.

Investigators have not confirmed to Spectrum News whether the video is connected to the cause of the fire or Adler's charges.

"It was intentionally set," Rebholz said. "Whether the intent was to totally destroy the building or to make a joke of things on Snapchat or social media, it was the same result."

Rebholz thanks the Red Cross for their assistance after the fire. He says he and his girlfriend are lucky they have family in the area to lean on after almost everything they owned went up in flames.
