JAMESTOWN, N.Y. -- Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul took center stage at the Reg Lenna Center for the Arts on Tuesday to distribute $10 million to downtown Jamestown. The city was one of 10 chosen as part of the state's $100 million Downtown Revitalization Initiative, or DRI.

After the state awarded the city the $10 million grant to revitalize Jamestown and boost the local economy in August, the local DRI committee spent several months compiling a strategic list of projects which it sent to the state for review. The state then reviewed the list and announced the top 10 project winners.

The 10 projects include redeveloping the KeyBank building, constructing a new hotel, improving the Riverwalk experience, turning the Renaissance Center into the Jamestown Brewing Company as well as rehabilitating the Reg Lenna Center for the Arts and its surrounding buildings.

Rounding out the list: installing rail service to Buffalo and Niagara Falls, creating walkable areas, providing all-season programming, upgrading the Lucille Ball Little Theater and improving the Robert H. Jackson Center.

The projects are expected to completed within one to three years.
