EDEN, N.Y. -- A 79-year-old woman was found shot dead inside her town of Eden home and hours later, her son was taken into custody at a motel in Erie, Pennsylvania.
The body of the victim, Mary Kozak, was found Thursday afternoon inside an East Eden Road home, according to prosecutors.
Wayne Kozak, 48, is charged with murder and behind bars in Erie without the possibility of making bail. The process to extradite him back to New York is in initial stages.
Police said this is the first homicide investigation in Eden in at least 30 years.
