BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Four months after a deadly shooting at Buffalo's Anchor Bar, police have made an arrest in the homicide case.

Jorge Suarez, 26, faces charges a second-degree murder charge related to the shooting. He has been in custody on an unrelated charge, according to the DA's office.

In May, Suarez walked into the kitchen of the Main Street location in the evening of May 20 and shot and killed Freddie Dizon, according to police. A co-worker, Roy Hogue, was also shot, but survived.

"What was so disturbing about this particular murder, and I think there have been 41 in the City of Buffalo this year, is where it happened, at the Anchor Bar during the dinner hour. The public was alarmed but the public was never in danger," said Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael Flaherty, Jr.

The Anchor Bar was shut down for days after the shooting.

"The Anchor Bar is an iconic place known around the country if not the world, is a symbol of identification with Buffalo and I'm so pleased to report that the Buffalo Police Homicide Squad has been working around the clock since this happened," Flaherty said.

"Whether it takes 40 years, or four months or four hours, we do what we can do to the best of our abilities," said Buffalo Police Chief of Detectives Dennis Richards.

Flaherty said he would've like to have an arrest on May 20, but some investigations take more time than others and refuted claims that he was playing politics with the case.

The case will now go before an Erie County grand jury.
