BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Buffalo man is now charged with a shooting that killed a mother of two and injured another woman.
Police say 31-year-old Lemuele Jackson is responsible for the shooting on Hagen Street that killed 26-year-old Santana Anderson, a mother of two, on August 4. The other woman who was shot did survive.
Investigators say the shooting was the result of a dispute at a house party.
Jackson is charged with second degree murder, attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
Following the arrest, Anderson's father spoke out, and said he's happy the shooter is locked up. He says he's planning on starting an anti-violence group in his daughter's honor, saying if at least one life is saved because of it, then it will be worth it.
"Talk to your kids, nephews, because somebody in somebodies family is definitely going to kill someone again, but if a family member knows from communicating with their kids, they could possibly stop it, it's a good chance that they could stop it, but parents don't have a clue what they're kids are doing out here as far as they concerned they have a great kid cause they're not communicating enough so I'm stressing that don't wait for it to be a situation like mine," said Alan Collins, Santana Anderson's father.
He's also using music to cope and already has been working on a song in her honor that he plans to soon record, and hopes it will touch many other lives.
