Attorney General Eric Schneiderman says ten people are charged with operating a drug trafficking ring, moving drugs, including heroin and fake oxycodone pills laced with fentanyl, from California to Western New York.
Nine Buffalonians and their alleged supplier in California are charged with 59 counts.
Authorities seized 502 pills laced with fentanyl, more than 100 grams of black tar heroin, more than 130 grams of cocaine, 15 pounds of marijuana and a pistol with ammunition.
"These pills looked just like oxycodone, but they were not oxycodone, which in and of itself is dangerous enough. Instead these pills were a toxic mix of acetaminophen and fentanyl, one of the most deadly drugs in the world," said Schneiderman.
He says this was a multi-agency, multi-state investigation that took nearly a year.
