BUFFALO, N.Y. — Two incidents in Allentown overnight left one man dead and another person injured.

Buffalo police say a 37-year-old man, later identified as Saleem Merukeb of Buffalo, was shot outside of Frizzy's Bar and Grill on Allen Street around 1:30 a.m. Friday during a fight.

He was taken to Buffalo General with serious injuries, where he lated died.

This is the 35th homicide in the city of Buffalo so far this year.

Just two blocks away, AMR was on scene near The Alley Cat.

Dispatchers confirm that they took one person to ECMC around midnight.

They could not confirm the nature of those injuries.

For some residents and community activists, the violent events are not surprising.

"The tragedy here is that this is something that we have predicted, that we have said quite loudly that, given the increasing amount of violence every single weekend, it is only a matter of time until someone gets killed," said Jonathan White, president of the Allentown Association.

The association will be meeting with police soon to discuss increasing violence in the area.

White hopes city leaders will ultimately step up and help.

Both incidents remain under investigation.
