BUFFALO, N.Y. — "Money will be available and help is on the way,” is what Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown is saying to minority business owners.
Joined by Congressman Brian Higgins and local entrepreneurs Sunday morning, Brown announced the Beverly Gray Exchange Center will receive more than $3.5 million.
This comes from what Mayor Brown is calling the Buffalo Transformation Fund, supported by money received from the American Rescue Plan.
Brown says the pandemic crippled many minority businesses and drastically offset the racial wealth gap.
With these funds, city leaders are trying to ensure Black and brown economic growth for years to come.
"For it to truly be a representative for diversity exists within the community, we must nurture and develop, as well as accelerate businesses, who are a few steps away from amazing outcomes," said Derek Parsons, executive director of Beverly Gray Business Exchange Center.
The business exchange center is currently operating exclusively virtually due to the pandemic.
