CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- UNC has announced plans to change several plagues inside Kenan Stadium to remove historical references to William R. Kenan, Sr.

Kenan, Sr. served as a leader in the Wilmington insurrection of 1898, where white men walked through town killing black people.

Chancellor Carol Folt announced Wednesday that the focus will be switched to William R. Kenan, Jr., the donor who made the gift.

Folt says the university's History Task Force will also work to tell the "full and complete history" of the Wilmington Race Riot.

The decision about the plaques was made after talking with the Kenan family.
