A wet weather pattern will just be getting started this weekend across North Carolina. Scattered showers and storms are in the forecast every day for at least the next week. Most of central and eastern North Carolina should see around three to six inches of rain through next Friday.

The highest chance for rain this Friday will come in southeastern North Carolina as an area of low pressure moves up the Carolina coast through Friday night.  Central North Carolina will see a few "hit or miss" storms by late afternoon. Otherwise, Friday will be a partly sunny day with highs in the mid 80s.

The Triangle and Sandhills should see more storms in the area late Saturday afternoon and evening. Some of those storms could be a bit strong with not only locally heavy downpours and frequent lightning but also strong wind gusts.

Scattered storms will then likely pop up each afternoon and evening through next week. Because of the scattered nature of the storms, rain is not guaranteed every day for every location in the state. Based on the expected coverage of storms, most locations will have about a 60 percent chance for rain each day.
