The family of a man shot and killed earlier this week describes him as a someone with a “loving spirit" who "prided himself in working hard to provide for his family.”
Anthony Zellars Jr., 29, was shot and killed Tuesday morning around 10:45, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police detectives.
The shooting happened on the 400 block of West Arrowhead Road, according to police. Zellars was reportedly found with a gunshot wound at the scene where he was pronounced dead.
According to Zellars’ LinkedIn profile, he was an operations manager with Lot Management Solutions.
His family released a statement saying, in part, “AJ was a beloved brother, son, grandson and nephew. He was a college graduate from Radford University who had a passion for criminal justice and law enforcement.”
“AJ had a tremendous impact on many lives. His loss has deeply hurt our family and friends. Our hearts are broken as we process this tragedy,” the statement continued.
Police are investigating, but have not yet identified a suspect or motive in the shooting.
