Police at North Carolina Central University say they arrested a suspect in a sexual assault reported in a campus dorm this week.

A student reported being assaulted in Benjamin Ruffin Residence Hall at about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, police said.

"The suspect in this isolated incident has been identified as an NCCU student and has been arrested by the NCCU Police Department. The victim, also an NCCU student, and the suspect are known to each other," campus police said. "No unlawful entry to the residence hall took place."

The sexual assault followed a report of sexual battery in another dorm on the Durham campus Saturday. Police described that case as a "fondling incident" at Chidley Residence Hall and unrelated to the sexual assault case.

The suspect in the Chidley Hall incident was also identified as a student, police said.
