The funds will likely be taken using a quick pass, not a toll booth.
Tuesday, the State Turnpike Authority confirmed that driving the 26-mile stretch will cost $6.55 during rush hour.
It will cost $4.20 cents on the weekends.
There will be fixed rates during the first six months, then the amount will vary based on the amount of traffic.
The toll lanes will be broken down into 11 segments.
The authority also said drivers can pay for the lanes through the N.C. Quick Pass and a device can be set up in their cars. Otherwise, they can have a photo taken of their license plates and have a bill sent to them in the mail.
When completed, the toll lanes will run from the Lake Norman area to Uptown Charlotte.
