Happy Saturday! Scattered showers will move through the region today as a cold front moves eastward toward the coast. Winds will shift to the northwest once the front passes and the winds will be gusty at times through the mountains and foothills. A high wind warning is in effect for the mountains for the overnight period. There is also a chance for a stray snowflake in the mountains tonight, but don't look for any accumulation.

Much colder air will move in behind the front and overnight lows will dip to the freezing mark in the mountains tonight where a freeze warning is in effect. Across the Piedmont, overnight lows will dip to the lower 40s.

Sunday will be a sunny but cool day. Temperatures across the Piedmont will struggle to reach 60 and in the mountains, temperatures will only warm to the mid 40s.

Sunday night, temperatures will drop below freezing in the mountains, and close to freezing across the Piedmont. A hard freeze will bring the growing season to an end in the mountains and scattered frost is likely across the Piedmont. If you have tender plants that you'd like to keep around for a few more weeks, be sure to cover them before you go to bed Sunday night.
