NORTH CAROLINA -- Governor Roy Cooper gave a press conference to urge North Carolinians to prepare for Hurricane Michael.

"Today I am urging NC residents to turn their attention to Hurricane Michael. It is a powerful storm churning through the Gulf of Mexico and is expected to make landfall tomorrow," said Cooper.

According to officials, the Tar Heel State could experience strong force winds that will rip tarps off damaged roofs. Additionally, heavy rains will likely lead to flash flooding, especially in areas where the ground is already saturated from Florence.

The governor also urged people to stay tune to their local news outlets and monitor forecasts closely.

Governor Cooper ended the conference by talking briefly about bringing budget recommendations to the NC General Assembly to help farmers and keep up production in the state.
