FOUR OAKS, N.C. – A Johnston County man is behind bars after calling to report his rifle stolen.

  • Jeffrey Beasley was arrested after calling to report his rifle stolen last week.
  • Beasley is a convicted felon and is not allowed to own a gun.
  • When deputies went to arrest him they found a meth lab and two homemade bombs.

Jeffrey Michael Beasley, 38, is a convicted felon; meaning he is not allowed to own a firearm.

Last week Beasley called to report that someone had stolen his rifle and $200 in cash from his home on Bass Road in Bentonville.

When deputies went to Beasley’s home to arrest him on warrants, charging him with possession of a firearm by a felon, they discovered an active meth lab inside his home.

During a search of the home, deputies not only found methamphetamines but also two homemade bombs.

The SBI was called to the scene where they, with the help of the Bentonville Fire Department and Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, detonated the devices near the scene.

Beasley was taken to the Johnston County Jail where he is being held under a $550,000 bond. He is charged with numerous crimes including manufacturing meth and possession of a weapon of mass destruction.

Authorities are still investigating how Beasley managed to make the bombs and if he had any specific plans for them.
