Now, his mom is honoring his memory by helping kids get ready to go back to school with supplies and fire safety knowledge.

Saturday, kids came out to Arbor Glen Parks and Rec Center to take home a backpack full of supplies, a flier for a free smoke detector and meet with firefighters to learn about fire safety.

Safe Kids Charlotte Mecklenburg also gave away free helmets for kids to wear while riding their bikes or scooters.

Michael's mom, Dominique Bradley, started the Michael's House Foundation so she could hold events like this to help keep children safe.
