BURKE COUNTY, N.C. -- Two people are dead and a toddler is seriously hurt after a collision in Burke County. 

  • Two children were ejected from a car 
  • A 4-month-old baby died at the scene
  • Driver later died

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the collision happened on Henry River Road, which is near Interstate 40. 

Troopers say a car, driven by Cody Myers, 21, was traveling south on Henry River Road while a truck was traveling north on the same road. Witnesses told troopers they saw the car cross the double line and crash into the truck just after 1:30 p.m.

The two children, who were restrained, were ejected from the car. A 4-month-old baby died at the scene. The other child and Myers were transported with serious injuries. Myers later died.

The driver of the truck, as well as a teen passenger, have minor injuries.
