GREENSBORO, N.C.,- June 15 marks two months since a tornado ripped through east Greensboro. People in the storm’s path are still trying to put their lives back together.

With the deadline to apply for help from FEMA approaching on July 9, city officials are urging people to reach out for help if they still need it.

Fema officials say, as of Friday morning, 1,309 households in Guilford County have registered for assistance and 93 in Rockingham County.

So far, $590,212 of FEMA assistance has been approved along with $521,600 from the Small Business Administration for 28 home loans.

”That’s over a million of federal assistance that's gone to households to repair their homes, buy personal items, rental assistance, so over a million dollars has already gone to help those survivors," said Roger Ingram with FEMA external affairs.
