Charlotte City Council member Tariq Bokhari said the city is working on a dockless scooter share pilot program, similar to it's current bike share pilot program, and expects to begin issuing permits May 21.
“We're going to make sure we have the bases covered for the pilot, and during the pilot we're going to see how it all works and feels,” Bokhari said. “And then for companies who want to do business here, you are all welcome."
Currently, there are at least two companies working with the city to legally bring permitted dockless scooters to Charlotte.
A Limebike spokesperson said in an email the company is evaluating it's options.
