MONROE, N.C. – A shooting early Sunday morning left one man dead and three others injured in Monroe. Now, the search is on for a suspect.

Police were called just after 3 a.m. to the 1500 block of Massey Street Extension.

When they arrived, they found 22-year-old David Tyrone Duncan Jr. had been shot and killed.

Around the same time, three others showed up at Carolina’s HealthCare System Union with gunshot wounds.

Forty-nine-year-old Rene Lowery was treated and released from CHS Union, 41-year-old Joshua Robinson and 26-year-old Jessica Gibson were transported to CHS Main for treatment.

At last report, Gibson had been treated and released. Robinson was in critical but stable condition.

Evidence gathered at the scene led authorities to charge 36-year-old Torey Brooks with first degree murder, three counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and possession of firearm by felon.
