CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- It was an interesting contrast of temperatures Thursday. Jefferson was sitting with 37 degrees, while the Charlotte zone was in the mid 70s.  The cold air took some time, but began spilling across the Piedmont.

Clear and cold tonight with lows in the mid 30s across the Charlotte region, and lower 30s in the mountains.  A freeze for the mountains is expected with some areas of frost out across the Piedmont tonight.

Sunshine and mid 60s will be the norm both Friday and Saturday for the Piedmont.  Average temperatures, for this time of year, should push the mid 70s.

It appears, based on the Climate Prediction Center, we'll likely work through April with temperatures below average.
