CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- In the wake of sexual harassment and abuse allegations against former Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps Director George Hopkins, Fort Mill-based Carolina Crown says their organization is putting plans in place to educate its members on the matter.

Corps, known as the major league of marching bands, are comprised of 16 to 21-year-old students who travel and perform across the country during the summer months.

Those with Crown say they have a reporting system and are asking several speakers to talk to their membership during spring training.

"We're concerned people, we work passionately about supporting the members that want to do this. Usually want to become the future band directors and performing artists out there. Because of that, we take education of that, for them, very seriously," said Carolina Crown Executive Director and CEO Jim Coates.

The Associated Press reports 11 former female members and staffers of the Cadets came forward with claims that spanned decades.

Though not charged, Hopkins and the Cadets Board of Directors stepped down earlier this month.
