HIGH POINT, N.C. -- A teen was arrested and charged with first degree murder for a shooting that occurred on Turtle Rock Way in High Point.

Officers were called to the scene at approximately 9:10 p.m. Monday and arrived on the scene to discover 17-year-old Griffin Weathers suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Weathers was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.

Sixteen-year-old Tylar Harris was later identified as the suspect and is currently in the custody of Guilford County Jail with no bond allowed.

"Tylar was a always a great person, you know, I never expected this from him," stated a close friend of Harris. "There's got to be a reason behind it, he was an overall caring person. He was like a brother to me."
