AVERY COUNTY, N.C. -- A portion of the Blue Ridge Parkway in Avery County will be closing down for nearly a month.
Barriers will surround the area near the Lin Cove Viaduct beginning on Friday.
The viaduct has been around since the 1980s and is in need of repairs.
The Blue Ridge Parkway Association says they will be posting detours.
Grandfather Mountain, which isn't far away, will remain open during the viaduct closure. Visitors will just have to take another route to get to it.
