WILMINGTON -- The opioid crisis continues to be a big problem across our state.

Now, a treatment center in Wilmington is hoping to get more people help so they can beat addiction.

A new 48-bed detox center that opened a week ago is already filling up fast. The center sees 250 people a month and many of those are from around the state and even other parts of the country.

The team works to get patients the medicine they need to deal with withdrawal symptoms. They also hold group sessions and educate on the 12 step recovery process.

“Our patients are not bad, they are sick. And they have the opportunity with treatment and follow up care to get back to being active participating members of society,” said Lauren Vick, Clinical Services Director.
