After a weekend of damp, but mild weather, a cold front moving through Monday will bring another day of drizzle and cloud cover with cooler air moving in for Tuesday.

A cold front extending from the Gulf Coast states into the Mid-Atlantic region will push southward through North Carolina Monday. Abundant cloud cover and spotty showers will continue ahead of it with winds persisting out of the south across lower elevations, leading to another day in the 60s across the Piedmont.

The High Country, however, will watch temperatures cool into low 50s then 40s throughout the day behind the passage of the cold front. Rain chances will taper off through the afternoon with the departure of this front, but a small chance for spotty showers will hold through Monday night.

By Tuesday, a large area of high pressure will shift across the northeast, allowing for cold-air damming to set up during the day. This will lead to another day of cloud cover, another day of spotty showers, but with a cool down compared to Monday. In fact, daytime highs will only be in the 40s for the Piedmont with 30s in the mountains.

A small chance for showers will stick around through Valentines Day before out next best chance for rain arrives Wednesday evening. Expect the remainder of this work week to remain unsettled and warm.
