CHARLOTTE – Community members are stepping up to help three young children who are going through an unspeakable tragedy.

Last weekend, police say 37-year-old Antioco Chacon shot and killed his mother, his wife, and then shot his 11-year-old daughter who's still recovering in the hospital. Chacon then shot and killed himself.

Two other children, a 13-year-old and 7-year-old, escaped before the shooting, and they're staying with family in the area.

"The help that they need is not an event, it’s going to be a longterm relationship so that's our desire to be a resource to them as long as they need that and in whatever way,” said Pastor Rusty Price.

Price is the founder of the Camino Community Center. He said they're ready to help these kids in any way from giving them food and clothing to therapy.

"There's a heart language which is your first language and it’s very difficult to have counseling through translation,” said Price. “So we're very fortunate to have wonderful counselors that their first language is spanish as well.”

A community member also started this GoFundMe account raising money for medical bills and funeral arrangements in Mexico.

The Latin campus at Hickory Grove Baptist Church in East Charlotte is also collecting donations. They're located at 7424 East W.T. Harris Blvd. You can drop items off from 9am to 4pm.
